Balloon Release Tribute Ceremony

 

Honoring the special people in our life is an honor of it’s own.  Maybe that’s why the Tribute Ceremony is always a very special highlight of the weekend.  We gather at J.B. Hunt park near dusk on Saturday evening.  After announcing and giving out awards for contests, we turn our focus towards a deeper meaning for the weekend.  We’ll announce the names of these mothers, daughters, wives, cousins, grandmothers, sisters and other cherished friends that have fought against breast cancer.  When their names are read aloud, pink balloons will be released as we watch them go into the sky.  Some of these tributes may have lost their battle.  Many have struggled beyond belief.  The fight still remains for those not stolen by breast cancer and for those of us that are here to hold them up ~ for now and for a beautiful PINK future free from breast cancer.  

These, along with names brought to us during our event weekend, are the names of the loved ones that have been brought to us by those who know them, respect them, worry about them, care about them, love them...and fight with them.

Please join us at JB Hunt Park as we lift these balloons in their honor and come together in our hopes for a cure.  Your $5 contribution to Komen will include your honoree’s name in this ceremony plus have them added to the Tribute page of our Pitch for the Cure website, where it will reside until our 2014 event.  Please see a PFTC STAFF member at a T-Shirt booth at your park prior to 5PM on Saturday.

Because not all parks can take part in this event, a symbolic set of pink balloons will be released from each park on Saturday evening.
