Honoring Those With Breast Cancer

We invite you to pay tribute to those that you know that have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Remember their spirit or show your support! On Saturday night, June 12th, we'll lift our pink balloons along with our hopes for a cure!

Honorees are listed on the Pitch for the Cure website, names are called out during the Balloon Release Ceremony and listed in the program book (if print date is met).

To include your honoree for a $5 contribution, please see details on our site and
mail in the tribute forms.

At the Heart of What We DO

Pitch for the Cure is a girls' fastpitch softball tournament that raises funds for Chicks Charities but also has additional global ambitions attached to it. We connect regional youth to fight against breast cancer and empower girls to be active for change in their communities.

The 5th Annual Pitch for the Cure is presented by Northwest Arkansas Fastpitch Softball Association dba Springdale Chicks, in special partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure Ozark Affiliate.

For our 5th Anniversary event, four colors are being offered with a design that really says it all! In an instant the eye can collect all the important catch phrases about Pitch for the Cure plus the perfect pink awareness ribbon.

Lots of emails have come in last week asking for an overnight address for their team shirt orders. Now that we’re SO close to the deadline, here’s the best option for you.

You can still purchase the 2010 Pitch shirts online with a credit card through the end of Tuesday May 25^th. (This does add a small processing fee…similar to that overnight Fedex fee!)

You can order these for $10.00/ea (add'l fees for plus sizes) by purchasing a minimum of 10 for your group. (Sizes/colors can be mixed within the order.)

Team Challenge Donation Spotlight

OK Athletics is raising the dough! At last report, this 12U team from Broken Arrow, OK has already raised $1,200 to bring for their Team Challenge Donation!

Several teams have started collecting online donations! Their donations are starting to trickle in... Take a look.

You can do it, too. It's free and makes it easy to collect donations from friends and family that don't live nearby! Just click that PINK DONATE ONLINE box over on the left. Then click the link at the top of the page that says become a fundraiser. You'll be on your way.

Roll Call - Check In! - Date Extended

Please check the spelling and appearance of your team name as it appears on the team list on the website. This is how it will show up on the shirt. A confirmation or correction will need to be sent from each team (just one, please).

If your team name has your state in it, it will be abbreviated in order to make more room. 166 names will require a LOT of space. If a state is showing on your team name and you don't need it there, please let us know, so that it can be removed.

June 1st - Player Lists

Coaches and Managers: The player lists are due back to us by June 1st, please! You can print our player form and mail it to us or send it back as an attachment via email. (The address for both is included on the form.)

The form requests information for the coaches, players and parents. Why? Several reasons....

VTD needs a player roster, so this serves that purpose. It also helps us be prepared for the crowds to expect. Please keep in mind that this is not just a copy of your USSSA roster for the year. This is a list of the actual girls that will be attending our Pitch event.

Something new for this year: We'll be giving a prize to a TEXT contestant! So if you're player/daughter is on the TEXT list on the player list form, she'll be entered in the contest. As mentioned on the form, it is optional. (This information will only be used for PFTC purposes and never given out to anyone else.)

Be in the Loop

We always PLAN for good weather. The 7 hour rain delay during Pitch 2007 proved to us that you don't always get what you wish for....

A weather delay number will be distributed and published during the last week prior to our event weekend.

The FASTEST and most convenient way to get the information is to have it sent right to your cell phone as it's made available. How do you do that?

Set up an account at Twitter.com, edit your settings to have your updates (tweets) sent to your mobile device and be sure to follow Pitch Teams on Twitter. We'll text in the updates and announcements during the weekend and they'll appear on your phone!

When you follow @pitchteams be sure to tell us which of our registered teams is yours. (You can do that with a Direct Message on Twitter.) You'll get entered for a drawing prize if you do it by June 10th!

Photography for Pitch for the Cure 2010 will be done by Legacy House Photography located in Rogers, AR. They will be drawing in a full staff of photographers providing us plenty of coverage at every park for team photos, action pics and general event shots.

More information will be sent out prior to Pitch weekend, but please plan on having your team ready for a commemorative group photo when you reach team check-in at your park.

Team photos will be available at the event (details soon) and all photos will be cataloged and available for purchase online through a Legacy House Photography website.

We appreciate that Kenny joins us as a sponsor, but most of all that these memories of this special event will be available to everyone!

Two Cool Contests, Too Cool

Here are two "off the dirt" contests where your team can show some creativity and never break a sweat.....

Team Auction Basket Contest
Bring a basket or item (or more than one) to the J.B. Hunt park to add to the Silent Auction to help us raise money. When the auction closes, we'll see which team brings the highest paid bid and name them the contest winner. It's a fun way to help out and you can watch your progress through the weekend....and your competition!

Last year OK Madness 14U won the Team Auction Basket Contest with a HUGE scrapbooking basket. We can remember how enormous it was sitting on the table that weekend AND being unsure that the winner was going to be able to carry it! What a great job they did!

Team T-Shirt Contest
This contest is probably the most creative of all. Your team can design a one-of-a-kind shirt just for the contest, or if the players are wearing a special shirt for the event, you can enter one of your team shirts.

To win this contest, simply be the crowd favorite. You never can predict which one is going to win! As everyone pays to get a wristband through the entry gates on Friday and Saturday, they'll be given a ticket to use for voting in this contest. The shirt with the most votes (tickets) wins!

There is no fee to enter this contest and there is no extra fee to vote since you get a ticket with gate entry. (Shirts are not returned to the team after the event.)

The goal is to show designs that share the spirit of the event (appropriate for all ages). Have fun with it!
