2011 Contest Rules
Please check the tournament schedule
for time and location of all contests and ceremonies. We will also
announce the contest schedule on our newsletter and a link to Facebook. If changes are made to
the schedule, every effort will be made to post the changes at each ballpark and
on the Schedule Update Information phone line. (This number to be
published by Wednesday June 6th.) We'll also send tweets right to your
phone on Twitter at

Fastpitch awards
Contest Divisions
Participant’s age group is determined by date of birth chart below. Judges reserve the
right to validate participant’s age. All contestants must be on a
participating Pitch for the Cure team.
6U - Participant is 6 years old
or under on December 31, 2011
8U - Participant is 8 years old or under on December
31, 2011
10U – Participant is 10 years old or under on December 31, 2011
12U – Participant is 12 years old or under on December 31, 2011
14U – Participant is 14 years old or under on December 31, 2011
16U – Participant is 16 years old or under on December 31, 2011
18U – Participant is 18 years old or under on December 31, 2011
It is recommended that participants receive permission from her coach/parent
prior to entry.
In contests that include multiple players, the age of the
oldest participant determines the age division.
Team
T-Shirt
Design
ContestDesign a team
t-shirt and compete for best shirt of the tournament.
Bring your team shirt to the Chicks t-shirt booth at J.B. Hunt park by 10am Saturday morning.
It will be displayed with all the other contest shirts where everyone can
vote for their FAVE by placing tickets on their choice! Team winner's photo will be
placed on the Pitch for the Cure©
website and the team receives an award. Look for these
shirts near the Chicks booth and posted on our Facebook page.
NEW
FOR 2012: This year, FAVE shirt pics will be available online so that votes can be
made at multiple ballparks.
Team
T-Shirt
Contest (Rules)
One shirt per team can be contributed to Pitch for the
Cure in an adult size. There is no fee to enter this contest. These
are best delivered by the time of team check-in on either Friday night or Saturday morning
but no later than 10am Saturday to J.B. Hunt park. (The earlier they are
delivered, the earlier they can receive votes!)
The shirts will be put up for voting to begin on Friday at the J.B. Hunt
park! Tickets will be sold to be used as one vote. They can be
purchased at the Event Shirt booth and there is no limit to the number of
tickets each person may purchase or use to vote. Tickets will be placed
voting They can take their ticket/stub to the t-shirt contest
area and place their vote for their favorite shirt. The t-shirt
with the most votes (tickets) will win. That team will receive an award and will
have their picture placed on the Pitch for the Cure website. Award
will be announced at the Saturday night ceremonies at J.B. Hunt park.
Contest shirts do not have to match the jersey
shirt that is being worn by the team. Please keep in mind that
these shirts should be appropriate for all ages. We do reserve the right
reject any entries that we deem inappropriate. These shirts will
NOT be returned at the end of the event.
Team Auction
Basket Contest
Your team can enter a filled basket into our Silent Auction
or a auction sized item. The team who brings the auction basket(s) or items
that bring in the highest bid payments will receive a team award. This is
a great help in our donation to Komen!
Team Auction
Basket Contest (Rules)
Each team is invited to bring a filled basket to include in
our Silent Auction. (Multiple baskets or items can be donated per team.) The team that
brings in the highest paid bid amount(s) will win the Silent Auction Team Award.
These items should be brought to the J.B. Hunt park where the
auction is held by 10am Saturday morning. The earlier they are delivered,
the earlier they can be seen and start to receive bids!
At the close of the Silent Auction, team auction items will
be processed first in order to determine a winner as soon as possible. The
winner will be chosen based on the total amount(s) of bids that are paid for by
the bidder by 11:00am on Sunday. Award will be presented on Sunday just
prior to the Komen check presentation.
If you have something sizable, valuable or
special to place in the auction...please let us know in advance and we'll do our best to promote it for
you!
Team Challenge Donation

2010 Team Donation Challenge Winners

We challenge
each team to help us raise money for breast cancer research and
assistance. Since 2006, we have made collective donations totaling
$100,000 to Komen for the Cure! This was from Team Challenge Donations in addition to
donations from our tournament funds. YOUR TEAM can help meet this year's goal of $38,000.
Our united efforts can change the world!
Awards will be
given for raising the most Team Challenge Donations at the Saturday
evening ceremony. Each age bracket
will have one winner (8U MP, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U & 18U) plus an the overall tournament fundraising team
will also receive an award. These winning teams will be listed on
our website with their team pictures.

Please turn in your donations to the Team
Check-In booth at the ball park when you check in. If you have
additional donations to turn in during the weekend after Check-In has closed,
please ask a STAFF volunteer (in a yellow shirt) to see a Park Manager on site.
Team
Challenge
Donation (Rules)
Each team should bring their Challenge Donation to team
check-in with a contest form (extras will be available). This donation can
be increased during the weekend if a team wishes to add to their donation.
The winner of this contest will be determined based on the
dollar amount that is received by 6pm on Saturday. Each division will have
an award for the team with the largest donation. A Grand Champion award
will be given to the single team that has the largest donation over all
divisions.
Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards
One
player in each age division will be awarded the MVP Award. This
player will be chosen from the 1st place team. Additionally, one player
in each age division will be awarded a MVP Runner-Up Award. This award
will be given to a player on the 2nd place team in each age division.
The
recipients of these awards will be chosen as follows:

At
the beginning of the championship game for each age division, the
coach for both teams will notify the Pitch for the Cure
representative of 3 players on their own teams who they feel have
shown exemplary skills, attitude, sportsmanship and effort over the
course of this tournament.

A
designated panel will watch the championship game for each
division. During this final game, they will watch the designated
players chosen by the coaches.
-
Immediately after the championship game is over, the panel will
choose the MVP and runner-up based on the attributes listed in the
first bullet point.
ALL CONTEST PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE PERMISSION FROM HER COACH
BEFORE PARTICIPATING. (MUST BE PARTICIPATING WITH A 2011 PITCH FOR THE CURE TEAM.)
Queen
of the Heat Pitching Contest (Rules)
-
Queen of the
Heat Pitching Contests will take place at the Pitching Booths at the JB Hunt
and Tyson Parks and is open to all players on participating Pitch for the
Cure teams.
-
Contest hours
will be from 5:00 pm Friday until 6 pm Saturday at both parks.
-
1st place will
be awarded to the winner of each age division (8u, 10u, 12u, 14u, 16u, 18u)
-
Cost is $5 per
entry for three (3) throws, with the fastest pitch being the recorded pitch.
(Fees are designated 100% to our Komen donation!)
-
A traditional
fastpitch pitch must be delivered. No walk-ups allowed.
-
Leaders by
park will be kept at the respective booths, being collected at the close of
the contest with the fastest pitch in each division determining the winner.
-
Participants
may enter as many times as they wish until the close of the contest.
Each entry incurs a $5 fee.
-
In the event
of a tie, Tournament Director will determine if there will be a pitch-off or
multiple awards given.
-
A pitch-off
will be conducted in the following manner:
-
Each
contestant will throw alternating pitches until a winner is decided, with
each contestant getting equal attempts. A coin flip will determine order.
-
The winners
will be announced at the Saturday evening ceremonies taking place at JB Hunt
Park at approximately 8:00. They will also be shown on the Pitch for
the Cure website.
Round the Horn Contest (Rules)
-
Each Pitch for
the Cure Team may enter as many groups as they wish consisting of four (4) players.
-
Entry fee for
this contest is $10 for the group. (Designated 100% to our Komen
donation!)
-
Each team can
enter as many groups as they wish. Each group incurs the $10 fee.
-
Each group can
have multiple entries to improve their time IF another team is not waiting
with groups for their first attempts. Each group attempt incurs a $10 fee.
-
1st place will
be awarded to the 4 group winner of each age division (8u, 10u, 12u, 14u, 16u, 18u)
with the best time.
-
Catcher does
not have to wear gear. All players must wear closed toed shoes.
-
A non-group
participant (coach, parent, team-member, etc.) will throw the ball to the
catcher. Time begins as the ball hits the catcher’s glove. (This
person is not included in the award.)
-
The team may
throw the ball around the bases in the consecutive base order they choose
from the catcher. (1st, 2nd, 3rd, home) or (3rd, 2nd, 1st, home)
-
Each player
must have contact with both the base and the ball at the same time to avoid
a
2 second penalty.
-
Time will
conclude with the ball arriving in catcher’s glove and catcher having
contact with home plate.
-
It is the
responsibility of the participants to be at scheduled field at scheduled
time.
-
The winners
will be announced at the Saturday evening ceremonies taking place at JB Hunt
Park at approximately 8:00. They will also be shown on the Pitch for
the Cure website.
Home to Home Contest (Rules)
-
Each Pitch for
the Cure Team can enter as many of their players as they wish in the Home to Home
contest.
-
There will be
a $5 fee for each contestant. (Designated 100% to our Komen donation!)
-
Contestants
can have multiple entries to improve their time IF another team is not
waiting on their first attempt. Each attempt incurs a $5 fee.
-
1st place will
be awarded to the winner of each age division (8u, 10u, 12u, 14u, 16u, 18u)
with the best time.

Each
contestant will get one attempt per entry fee.

Contest shifts
appear on the master schedule and will be listed for the respective parks.

All players
will begin with one foot in contact with home plate.
-
Time will
begin when the player’s foot leaves home plate.
-
Time will
conclude when player returns to home and steps on the plate.
-
If a player
misses a base, a 2 second penalty will be given.
-
It is the

Home to Home Relay Contest (Rules)
This base
to base team relay will test how fast a team of four players working
together can get around all four bases one time.

Each Pitch for
the Cure Team may enter as many groups as they wish consisting of four (4) players.

this contest is $10 for the group. (Designated 100% to our Komen
donation!)

Each team can
enter as many groups as they wish. Each group incurs the $10 fee.

have multiple entries to improve their time IF another team is not waiting
with groups for their first attempts. Each group attempt incurs a $10 fee.

A
player will start at each base with one foot in contact with the
base on which they start.
-
On the
starters command, the player at home will run to 1st base. When
they reach first base, they will slap or tag the hand of the runner
waiting at 1st base. Once hand contact is made, the runner waiting
at 1st will run to 2nd.
-
The
same process will continue with the runner waiting at 2nd base going
to 3rd, then the runner at 3rd running to home.
-
The
starter will use a stopwatch to time the total time it takes all
runners to run the bases as a team.
-
The
stopwatch will be started on the “go” command and will stop when the
3rd base runner’s foot touches home plate.
-
If a
runner leaves early, or there is no hand slap / tag of hands, the
team will be allowed one (1) restart. If it happens a second time,
the team will have this attempt disqualified with no refund. They may enter this
contest again after paying the entry fee –AND- waiting for their
appropriate turn.
Pitch for the Cure officials reserve the right to modify rules when
necessary. Decisions of the judges are final.
